Advantages of the direct reduction of iron technology Itmk3

Deputy Minister of Industrial Policy of Ukraine Sergey Grishchenko attended the International Conference «Itmk3 Family», which was held with the participation of leaders of the world's largest metallurgical, machine-building enterprises and representatives of «Kobe Steel LTD» (Japan) - the authors and developers of Itmk3 technology, the press-service of Ministry says.

In the course of the conference the prospects of the direct reduction of iron technology Itmk3 in the world economy, the benefits of this technology and new investment opportunities have been discussed. In addition, decisions that are offered by Itmk3 technology were discussed in the context of the impact of the global economic crisis.

Grishchenko read a congratulatory speech on behalf of the Minister of Industrial Policy of Ukraine, Vladimir Novitsky at the conference and noted the advantages of using technology in terms of energy saving and environmental protection, as well as production. «The main focus of development of the domestic steel industry today is shaping the industry, which is always worthy to represent the country in the world community, helps address the major tasks of socio-economic development and approval of Ukraine as a state with a powerful high-tech industrial complex», - he added.

NOTE. Itmk3 technology is the most advanced and cost-effective technology of iron production, based on the recovery of ore coal fluxed pellets in a rotary furnace to produce high-quality iron nuggets. Its chemical composition is very close to the chemical composition of pig iron produced in the blast furnace. The technology ensures the reduction, melting and separation of slag from iron in 8 to 12 minutes. Melting occurs at relatively low temperatures (from 1350 to 1450 degrees Celsius).
