Cleveland Cliffs and Kobe Steel will implement iron ore projects using ITmk3

American Cleveland Cliffs, together with Japan's Kobe Steel is building a plant using technology of direct reduction of iron ITmk3 (Ironmaking Technology Mark Three) with the capacity of 500 thousand tons using Kobe technology - ITmk3, said Metal Bulletin.

The agreement between the companies envisages the use of this technology in all countries where Cliffs production are present: United States, Canada, Australia and Brazil.


ITmk3 technology has been developed in Kobe based on American technology Midrex, is used to obtain pellets with the iron content of more than 96%.
